Mr Coombes added that "GlaxoSmithKline has been working to establish its own regulatory agency to take the regulatory decisions now available to it, particularly in relation to the availability of the generic product in the UK and the timing of the regulatory review, as well as the availability of the launch date of the generic product".
The company is also working with the European Medicines Agency to provide the company with a final regulatory update on its current status and to inform its customers of the latest data on the launch of the generic product.
Mr Coombes said that "GSK remains committed to providing patients with the best available treatment for their condition and its current position is in line with their current regulatory decision to launch the generic product".
